By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
3. Services and general information only
Content on this site is general information for Australian businesses and is not legal, tax, or financial advice. You should obtain advice tailored to your circumstances. Services are delivered subject to a separate engagement letter; if there’s any inconsistency, your engagement letter prevails.
4. Supervision & scope of BAS/tax services
As a trainee tax agent, we offer taxation services through the registered business name Verta Accounting under the supervision of The Accounting Academy Services Pty Limited (ABN: 93 671 788 355, agent number 26233096). All services are closely monitored to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
BAS and income-tax agent services are provided on behalf of and lodged by the supervising registered agent. We do not hold out as a registered tax/BAS agent.
5. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timely provision of information and documents. Delays or inaccuracies may affect deliverables, lodgement dates, and outcomes.
6. Fees, payment, and refunds
Pricing shown on the site is indicative only and may change. Final fees are set out in your engagement letter or proposal. Invoices are payable by the due date shown. Refunds are handled under Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and our engagement terms.
7. Cancellations & rescheduling
If a meeting must be rescheduled, please provide reasonable notice. Missed or late-notice appointments may incur a fee (if stated in your engagement letter).
8. Intellectual property
All content on this site (text, graphics, logos, layouts) is our intellectual property or used under licence. You must not copy, reproduce, or adapt it without written permission.
9. Website use, availability & third-party links
We aim for accurate, current content but do not warrant it will be error-free or uninterrupted. Third-party links are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or practices.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties not expressly stated in these Terms and are not liable for any loss (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing limits your rights under the ACL.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures; however, the internet is not entirely secure and we cannot guarantee transmission security.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy (below) explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information. By using the site, you consent to that policy.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms at any time by posting the new version on the site. The “Last updated” date will change accordingly.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland and Australia.

Privacy Policy (Australia)

We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What we may collect

Identity & contact: name, business name, address, email, phone.

Business & financial info: ABN/ACN, accounting records, payroll data, receipts/invoices, bank feed metadata (not card numbers), super details, ATO references.

Communications: emails, call notes, meeting notes, forms.
2. How we collect
Directly from you (forms, emails, calls, meetings), from your authorised representatives or staff, and—where authorised—from third parties and platforms (e.g., Xero, bank feeds, receipt tools) and public sources (e.g., ABN Lookup).
3. Why we collect (purposes)

To provide bookkeeping, payroll, BAS/IAS, and income-tax services (with lodgements performed by our supervising registered agent).

To verify identity, set up software, and administer engagements.

4. Lawful basis / APP principles
We collect personal information where reasonably necessary for our functions and with your consent where required. You may decline to provide information; however, we might be unable to deliver services or meet compliance requirements.
5. Disclosure of personal information
We may disclose information to:

Our supervising registered tax agent for BAS/tax preparation and lodgement;

Cloud software providers (e.g., Xero, receipt capture, payroll, CRM), IT and security providers;

Payment processors, auditors, professional advisors, and insurers;

Government bodies as required by law (e.g., ATO, TPB), or with your consent.
Some recipients may be overseas depending on your software stack (e.g., global cloud hosting). Where practicable, we will assess and use providers with appropriate safeguards.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (access controls, MFA where supported, least-privilege access, encryption in transit where available). Despite safeguards, no method is 100% secure.
7. Retention & destruction
We retain records for as long as required for our services and legal obligations (e.g., taxation record-keeping). When no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to de-identify or securely destroy personal information.
8. Access & correction
You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information. Contact hello@vertaaccounting.com.au We may need to verify your identity and may charge a reasonable fee for access where permitted.
9. Cookies & analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site and understand usage. You can manage cookies in your browser, but some features may not work without them. If we use analytics tools, they may process de-identified or pseudonymised data.
10. Direct marketing
We may send service updates or newsletters you can opt out of at any time (use the unsubscribe link or email us).
11. Third-party sites
Our site may link to other sites. Their privacy practices are their own; check their policies.
12. Children
Our services are for business clients. We do not knowingly collect personal information about children without appropriate consent.
